
Brighter Future for Lake Champlain
The federal EPA, based on a challenge from the Conservation Law Foundation, will be taking a fresh look at Lake Champlain's cleanup plan. This is good news if we are to make better progress in cleaning up the lake. It means the state will be setting new targets for cleaning up one of Vermont’s most important waterways based on newer, up-to-date information. Policies that VNRC has championed for decades and will continue to support, including strong stormwater, forest and "smart growth" initiatives, will be critical if we are to succeed in cleaning up the lake under what will likely be a more rigorous plan.
