Earth Hour 2010Sat 3-27 7:30 p.m. Location: Unitarian Universalist Church - Burlington As the world turns out the lights in a call for climate action, come hear artist and activist Kathryn Blume's candle-lit travelogue - Flight - a story about her recent trip to the Copenhagen climate talks. (It promises to be informative, inspiring and likely a little funny too!). As well, listen to the song stylings of the talented Rebecca Padula. A $10 suggested donation - $5 for students. Whether you are looking for tips about plants that tolerate shade under a canopy, native groundcovers that require low maintenance, or “survivalist” plants that grow in alpine crevices, you will benefit from our experts’ advice at this day-long symposium. Landscape Design for the Natural GardenSat 4-17 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Location: Montshire Museum, Norwich, VT Gardening sensitively with native plants that suit the local landscape has many benefits, both environmental and ecological. Join landscape designer Liz Krieg to explore gardens that utilize indigenous and non-invasive perennials and grasses. These beautiful gardens function as low maintenance, water conserving, and erosion controlling communities. Fee: $15 (Member) / $18 (Nonmember).
