![]() Some Work and Some Play, at the VNRC Annual MeetingVNRC’s annual meeting on Thursday, September 22, was high big on variety. And fun! Well over 100 people – VNRC staff, board, members and visitors – gathered at the Lareau Farm and Inn in Waitsfield to take in tasty food, a little policy, announcements of some well-deserved awards and to hear about a leadership transition at VNRC. Long-time director Elizabeth Courtney announced that she would be taking on a new role at VNRC, raising money and writing a history of the conservation movement in Vermont, as part of the Legacy Project. At the meeting she formally turned the reins over to Brian Shupe who has been named the new executive director Vermont House Speaker Shap Smith complimented VNRC for its work on important conservation issues in Vermont. And VNRC staff announced citizen awards during the meeting: one to Duncan McDougall (pictured here with Johanna Miller, VNRC’s energy program director) for his innovative and committed work as the founder and current chair of Waterbury LEAP, the town’s energy committee, and one to attorney Paul Brierre for his recent legal assistance on behalf of VNRC in the Vermont Yankee case in federal court.
