![]() Free Press: Little Action Two Years After Climate Commission ReportIn 2005, Gov. Jim Douglas convened a special six-person panel of Vermont leaders and charged them with recommending strategies to meet his administration’s greenhouse gas reduction goals. After years of study and hard work, the Governor’s Commission on Climate Change (on which VNRC Executive Director Elizabeth Courtney served) delivered 38 concrete recommendations to reduce Vermont’s contribution to climate change. But as the global climate change gathering in Copenhagen convenes, Burlington Free Press Reporter Tim Johnson discovered that state action has been sorely lacking, despite the administration’s own supposed goals, an investment of hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars, and a critical need for action.
